Retaining rings lock components on shafts and in bores without threaded fasteners — fast to install, light, and reliable under vibration. Lock collars complete the picture, retaining bearings and pins where a machined shoulder is not available.

The category covers internal and external retaining rings (MS16624 / MS16625 / MS16626 series) in spring steel and corrosion-resistant steel, plus the NAS1081 collar family — lock collars and related ring hardware across a wide size range. Materials are spring-tempered carbon steel, PH15-7Mo and other corrosion-resistant grades per the drawing. Installed with the correct pliers, a retaining ring seats in its groove with an audible snap — the simplest positive lock on the airplane.
