Collection: Pins

Pins are the smallest safety-critical parts on the airframe. Cotter pins lock castellated nuts on flight-control bolts; straight and dowel pins align structure; spring pins take shear in linkages; quick-release pins hold panels and equipment that must come off in seconds.

The core families: MS24665 cotter pins (the largest pin line in the military catalog), MS20392 straight headed pins for clevis joints, MS16562 spring pins, MS16555 dowel pins, MS17986 quick-release detent pins, and MS20253 hinge pins. Materials are cadmium-plated carbon steel and corrosion-resistant steel per the drawing; quick-release types add stainless detent mechanisms. Grip length and hole fit are specified to the thousandth — a pin that is close is not a pin that is correct.
