AN (Army-Navy) standards are the oldest joint military hardware specifications, dating to the pre-WWII standardization of American aircraft production. Many AN drawings have been superseded by MS or NAS numbers, but thousands remain active on legacy fleets — and the AN3–AN20 bolt series is still the backbone of light-aircraft construction worldwide.

Core AN families: AN3–AN20 hex-head bolts (alloy steel, 125 KSI, cadmium plated), AN565 set screws, AN960 flat washers, AN310/AN315/AN365 nuts, AN816-series flared tube fittings, AN6289 coupling nuts and the AN12xxx fuel and oil gaskets. Materials are predominantly cadmium-plated alloy steel with corrosion-resistant steel and brass variants per the drawing.
